This is the planning stage.
My style is simple, natural, and organic. If you love this style as much as I do and are ready to book, then we can schedule a planning session at my home studio about how we will achieve this with your session. I will send you a questionnaire to help assist with this planning stage.
One of the major factors that influences the look and feel of a session is your wardrobe. That's why I have created a studio wardrobe of soft, neutral, organic clothing which is available for all family members to borrow for their session (up to size eight in kids, and I only provide shirts for dad). We will pick mom's clothing first, and then coordinate baby and the rest of the the family around her choice. This is the perfect time to come to my home studio to see everything for yourself and to even try on any of my 50+ dresses! If I don’t have a dress that is just right for mom, we will work together to find one that will be perfect for your session. If it is a good fit to add to my studio wardrobe, I will purchase it and keep it after your session.
The planning session is a crucial step in the process of my photography sessions. We get wardrobe picked out together, the first meeting jitters out of the way (this is especially helpful for shy kiddos!), and you'll know exactly where my studio is and what it's like so that everyone will be relaxed and comfortable on the day of the photoshoot. This is also the time to see print products in person, so you can start planning how you'd like to display your printed artwork.
I will send you a contract that lays out all the specifics, and an invoice for the session fee that must be paid to secure your session date and time. The remaining balance for the digital collection must be paid before your digital gallery is uploaded and viewed.
All sessions, with the exception of fall family sessions, take place in my home studio, usually on Friday or Saturday mornings.
When you get to my home studio for your scheduled session, the clothes we picked out for your session will be pressed and ironed, ready to go! Your newborn will be wrapped or wearing a simple white or off-white onesie which I will provide.
In every session, my goal is to capture the sweet connection and interaction between each of your family members. Photos with family, mom & dad, siblings, and then individuals of newborn is the typical flow of a newborn session. Normally, a newborn session will last about 2-3 hours,
depending on the needs of the newborn and the size of the family.
Maternity, baby milestone, and one-year sessions are much shorter, lasting about 30-60 minutes. With these sessions, the focus is on baby, but the connection between mother and baby is always captured.
You will receive a link via email to your online gallery within 3 weeks of your session date, along with a print release form. You will download all of your images and back them up to save them for safe keeping.
This is also the time to select printed artwork, and pick out the images for your heirloom album if you’ve chosen to display and preserve your images that way. After I design, order, and receive your artwork, we'll set up a day that you can come pick it up from the studio.
